Wayfinding
Osage Guide
The standing map of the Osage ecosystem. Heritage routes, member onboarding, code-of-conduct primers, and the annual field guide.
Wayfinding
Osage Guide
Wayfinding for the Osage ecosystem — the standing index of every property, the heritage routes through Osage County, the member-onboarding handbook, and the field guide the desk publishes once a year on a fixed date.
Mandate
Osage Guide is the wayfinding desk of the ecosystem. The mandate is plain: keep a standing map of every property, publish a field guide once a year on a fixed date, and run the onboarding handbook for new members. The desk does not chase a content cadence; the same canonical pages are updated in place and dated at the foot.
Editorial responsibility for the Guide sits with the desk itself, in cooperation with the Institute on the heritage-route pillar and the Foundation on the printed annual.
Guide pillars
Heritage routes
A standing set of heritage routes through Osage County, Oklahoma, and the wider Osage cultural landscape — Pawhuska, the Reign-of-Terror sites, the Wakon-tah ground, the trail of the migration east of the Missouri. Each route is documented with a published brief, a printed map, and the consent of the landholders where the route crosses private ground. Routes are walked by the schools and the standing quests; they are not commercial tourist itineraries.
Ecosystem index
A canonical index of every property in the ecosystem — the operating companies, the schools, the Institute and the Foundation, the international and civic desks — with a single line on what each property does and where it sits. The index is regenerated from the shared registry; the same source of truth feeds every part of the house.
Member onboarding
The standing onboarding handbook for new members of the ecosystem. Identity through osage.id; the standing-terms primer; the published calendar of observances; the directory of standing desks and how to reach them. The handbook is the working ground for the orientation cohort each September.
Code-of-conduct primers
A small set of plain-language primers on the standing code-of-conduct of the ecosystem — protocol on standing observances, the editorial-record standard, the rules on standing partnerships, the rules on identification and anonymity. The primers are the citation for every ecosystem entity that adopts the code.
The annual field guide
Once a year on a fixed date the desk publishes the printed field guide — a clothbound annual carrying the ecosystem index, the heritage-route briefs, the calendar of observances, and the standing addresses of the desks. The printed annual is the citation of record for the year; the web edition tracks corrections appended dated.
Ecosystem index
The canonical list of properties, by grouping. Source of truth is shared/registry.ts in the osage/osage.group monorepo; this page is regenerated on each release.

What we will not do
We do not publish itineraries the host landholders have not consented to. We do not sell access to standing heritage routes. We do not run a paid placement track in the printed annual. We do not silently rewrite the standing index; every change is dated.
Engagement
Corrections to the index, route additions, and editorial submissions to the annual are welcomed in writing. The desk replies to every serious inquiry; the annual closes submissions ninety days before the print date.
